Job Summary:

As a Planner in the Maintenance department at TT Thermal Medupi Power Station, you play a crucial role in our operations on a 3-month contract basis. Your primary responsibility is to develop, maintain, and optimize project schedules, ensure efficient resource allocation, and contribute to the overall success of our power plant operations. This position requires you to leverage your extensive experience in power plant planning to drive efficiency and maintain high standards of project management.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule Management and Development

  • Prepare and maintain master program and project plans, including sub-project plans
  • Monitor and track project requirements, staying abreast of changes
  • Provide information on schedule content, modifications, and presentation as needed
  • Identify and record the impact of work performed and not performed as scheduled
  • Incorporate resource and/or cost-loading data into schedules as required

Progress Monitoring and Reporting

  • Evaluate actual construction progress and provide regular schedule updates
  • Interface with Operations, Owners, and Subcontractors to discuss work impact and problem resolution
  • Identify and record the impact of work performed and not performed as scheduled

Pre-construction Planning and Proposal Support

  • Contribute to the development of working schedules for Estimating prior to proposal dates
  • Prepare and issue proposals and preliminary schedules
  • Consult with project team members and utilize company estimating procedures to ensure proper planning before work commencement

Technical Advisory and Problem Solving

  • Serve as a technical advisor for solving difficult production problems
  • Provide solutions to complex production issues
  • Assist in formulating actions to correct scheduling problems

Collaboration and Project Support

  • Work closely with project teams to address scheduling challenges
  • Assist Project Managers in creating and monitoring short-term schedules
  • Provide clear and concise updates to stakeholders on project timelines and milestones
  • Ensure alignment of short-term schedules with the master schedule

Qualifications & Behavioural Competencies:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a planner/scheduler in a power plant environment
  • Proven experience as a project planner/scheduler in a power plant setting
  • Related technical and/or project management qualifications
  • Advanced skills in planning technical high-voltage power plant projects
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced IT and software skills, including:
  • Microsoft Excel

Project management software

Scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
