Job Description:
As a Logistics Controller Intern at TT Thermal Logistics, you will play a key role in supporting the coordination and management of logistics operations. Your responsibilities will include tracking trucks, optimizing transportation schedules and ensuring efficient communication between stakeholders. This is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in logistics planning and execution within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Route Planning and Optimization:
- Plan and optimize delivery routes, considering factors such as traffic patterns, delivery windows, and vehicle capacity.
- Continuously assess and adjust route plans to adapt to real-time conditions, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
- Collaborate with transportation teams to identify opportunities for route optimization, cost reduction, and environmental impact minimization.
- Analyse historical data and performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement in route planning strategies.
2. Communication and Reporting:
- Foster open communication channels with drivers, dispatchers, and other team members to ensure a seamless flow of information.
- Provide clear instructions and support to drivers regarding route changes, delays, or unexpected incidents.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive reporting system to track fleet and driver performance, analysing key metrics such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance.
- Present regular reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and suggesting improvements for operational efficiency.
3. Continuous Improvement:
- Actively seek opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the logistics and route optimization processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in logistics, incorporating technological advancements and industry trends.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies in route optimization, inventory management, and communication tools, recommending and implementing relevant updates as necessary.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to regulations governing transportation and logistics.
- Conduct training sessions for drivers and logistics staff to ensure awareness and compliance with relevant regulations.
Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in logistics, fleet management, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of drivers.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations.
